Year Two. The 98 Games Pairs.
400 competitors, one shared effort, and a new standard set at the Royal Hall of Industries, Moore Park. The second edition of the 98 Games delivered on every front, putting the pairs format to the test across trust, grit and performance. Here is a brief reflection on what was a landmark weekend for the 98 community.
The floor does not build itself. The bump in at the Royal Hall of Industries was thorough and deliberate, every piece of equipment placed with intention and every station built to spec. It was the kind of setup that reflects what 98 is about, getting the details right before anyone walks through the door.
With the floor ready, the weekend opened with the Pre Game: an evening designed to bring the community together ahead of competition day. Athletes gathered for food, an event run through, a Q&A with CrossFit Games athlete Ricky Garard, and a tour of the venue. It set the tone perfectly. Informed, connected and ready.
When competition day arrived, 400 competitors filled the Royal Hall of Industries at Moore Park inside Sydney Swans HQ for the second edition of the 98 Games, this time built entirely around pairs. Two athletes, one shared effort, no hiding. It was a format that demanded trust, communication and a willingness to carry your partner when it mattered most. The result? A weekend that exceeded expectations across the board.
None of it happens without the people who back the vision. A genuine thank you to our partners: Rogue Australia, Concept2 Australia, PILLAR Performance, LiveFit Nutrition and REC GEN. Your continued commitment to raising the standard of fitness competition in this country makes the difference between an event and an experience.
This is just the opening word. A fuller reflection on the weekend, the moments, the athletes, the performances, is coming soon.
For now: year two is done. The bar has moved.
All eyes on October.
Onwards and upwards.
