MEET THE TEAM
Born in Thailand and raised in the UK, Sharon moved to Sydney over seven years ago. Competitive from the very beginning, she recalls the day she became frustrated when the boys suddenly started beating her at swimming competitions – a shift she couldn’t understand at the time.
Throughout her youth, Sharon competed in every sport available, eventually reaching the National level in Biathlon for three consecutive years, and representing her university in Swimming and Water Polo. After graduating and losing easy access to organised sport, she discovered the weights room, experimenting with her own training and movement before fully transitioning into the fitness industry in 2018 in Sydney.
Sharon has admired 98 for many years, valuing its ethos of accountability and the idea of leaving one’s ego at the door – principles she instils in the members she coaches. Her goal is to inspire people to love moving their bodies, to understand the benefits of training, and to put in the hard work so they can enjoy the mental and physical rewards it brings.

Haydon’s path to coaching wasn’t traditional. After spending his teen years overweight and managing Type 1 diabetes from age 13, fitness didn’t enter the picture until he was 19. Walking into a gym for the first time changed everything - he lost 22kg in three months, built confidence, and found a passion for training. While working full-time as a fitter, machinist and marine diesel mechanic, he studied nights to complete his Certificate III & IV in Fitness, eventually moving into coaching.
With four years of face-to-face experience, Haydon brings a blend of technical knowledge and lived understanding. He knows what it means to start at the beginning, face setbacks, and push through them. His empathy, humility and work ethic stood out long before he joined the 98 team, first as a member known for his consistency and commitment. Today, those qualities underpin everything he brings to the gym and its community.

Kate’s performance-driven attitude is the embodiment of the 98 Gym ethos. Not long after joining 98, she broke her first world record on the Concept2 SkiErg - and followed it up by setting and still holding multiple world records across various distances.
Her pursuit of fitness goes beyond personal achievement. Kate holds a Bachelor of Health Science and a Master’s in Health Policy, driven by a deep interest in the social determinants of health and the ways in which health and disease are shaped by broader societal forces. This understanding fuels her coaching philosophy - empowering people to not only perform at their peak, but to see training as a means of improving their overall quality of life.
With over a decade of coaching experience, Kate has trained everyone from elite-level swimmers to adults taking their very first steps into fitness. For her, the level of athletic ability matters far less than the character and commitment of the athlete. Whether on the gym floor or in competition, Kate leads by example - balancing high standards with approachability, and inspiring those around her to set the bar higher.

Born in the UK and raised in Australia, Louis has been immersed in an active lifestyle and sports from a young age. During school, a competitive nature and passion for excellence led to playing rugby at the state level. From there, the weight room became a pivotal part of Louis’s fitness journey, eventually progressing into powerlifting. Time spent in the strength environment served as the catalyst for a deeper curiosity in the field of strength and conditioning.
With six years of experience as a coach, Louis has had the opportunity to gain valuable insights and knowledge from esteemed mentors and industry leaders, further developing expertise in the field. Passionate about enhancing individuals' hard work, tenacity, movement patterns, and technical proficiency, Louis is dedicated to fostering a mindset of self-improvement and sustainable lifestyle changes. Originally from the UK, Beth began her sporting career as a competitive swimmer, competing at a national level across the UK. This fed into a keen interest in understanding the body’s full potential, resulting in studying a Bachelor in Sport and Exercise Science.
Since then, Beth’s coaching background has expanded to include swimming, pilates and strength and conditioning. No matter the discipline, Beth’s coaching ethos always comes down to the love of helping people to understand the movement potential of their bodies, as well as educating clients to understand the “why” behind what they’re doing. This has allowed Beth to coach a huge number of clients through a range of abilities from novices to experienced athletes. That said, Beth’s expertise lies in strength training, as well as impressive experience in pre and post natal training.
Calling Sydney home for the past 6 years, when Beth isn’t in the gym you can find her ocean swimming, surfing or enjoying a lovely glass of red.

Franco grew up in Cardiff, where rugby shaped his team-first mentality and sparked his interest in athletic performance, injury prevention, and long-term training. He began coaching at 18 and has since worked across multiple levels of the fitness industry - from community classes in Wales to travelling through Europe and Asia as the personal trainer for professional GP3 driver Matthew Parry. After two successful seasons, he relocated to Sydney, where he became Head Coach in both CrossFit and Strength and Conditioning facilities while also completing his AWF Level One qualification.
A long-time member of the wider 98 community, Franco has represented the gym in competition and is known for his well-rounded athletic ability and refusal to leave weaknesses unaddressed. His coaching reflects the 98 ethos: commitment, hard work, and a focus on performance-based goals that consistently help clients achieve more than they expect.

Originally from England, Jake has always had a keen interest in sports, playing football (the real football), rugby and tennis in his younger years. It wasn’t until he left university at 21 that he realised his interest in health and fitness should be more than just a hobby, because the corporate world just wasn’t his thing.
Since 2015, Jake has coached thousands of people through both 1-1 and small group personal training as well as managing gyms for one of the largest premium health club brands in Europe. Over the last few years Jake’s coaching skillset expanded to both CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting with qualifications in both areas as he’s a firm believer in consistently upskilling, as well as enjoying the style of training you do.
Having had a long holiday to Australia in October 2024, Jake realised he wanted to expand his experiences to a new part of the world both personally and professionally and decided to make a permanent move in 2025 and aims to continue his passion for supporting positive lifestyle and training changes for everyone he trains.
