There are hundreds of different types of microbes that make up the gut microbiome, some of which are beneficial to health and some which are not. While research in this area is still in its infancy, what we do know is that the microbiome is a dynamic ecosystem that is strongly influenced by diet and lifestyle. A healthy gut can simply be described as one where the beneficial bacteria crowd out the ‘bad’ bacteria, and to achieve this, we want to achieve microbe diversity.
There are some pretty clear and achievable ways we can help support a healthy gut, for those who are already generally healthy and are looking for extra homework, here are a few things to consider:

- Try to include fermented foods
- Eat the colours of the rainbow!
